Planning Boca’s Future
Economic development can strengthen Boca Raton when it is guided by a long-term plan. The City’s responsibility is to direct future investment where it best serves residents, businesses, and our community as a whole.

Economic development can strengthen Boca Raton by attracting outstanding employers, creating high-quality jobs, and expanding our commercial property tax base. But those opportunities should be guided by thoughtful planning, not by reacting to one investment proposal at a time.
I believe Boca Raton should identify where future investment best fits our community, understand what our infrastructure can support, and establish clear long-term planning objectives before proposals are considered.
As older commercial areas are renewed, we have an opportunity to strengthen our economy while complementing surrounding neighborhoods. The goal should be to encourage the right investment in the right locations for the right reasons.
Every investment proposal should answer one simple question: Does it advance Boca Raton’s long-term plan and improve our community?
Downtown for Everyone
Great downtowns are built around people, not buildings. Boca Raton has an opportunity to create public spaces, parks, and streets that invite people to gather, explore, and enjoy our city.
Downtown should be designed for people first. Every investment should strengthen its role as a place where residents and visitors gather, support local businesses, enjoy public spaces, and experience the best of Boca Raton.
I believe our public spaces deserve the highest priority. Memorial Park has the potential to become Boca Raton’s great downtown park, creating a destination for recreation, community events, and everyday enjoyment. That opportunity should guide many of the decisions we make about downtown’s future.
As we evaluate public facilities and future investments, we should look beyond individual projects and focus on creating a downtown that is more welcoming, more walkable, and more enjoyable for everyone.
Does this investment make downtown better for people?
Traffic, Roads & Mobility
Traffic affects every resident, every day. Before we invest in new roads or approve new development, we should understand where traffic comes from, where it’s going, and what solutions will make the greatest difference.
Traffic is one of the most common concerns I hear from Boca Raton residents. Improving it requires more than widening roads or reacting to congestion. We need a better understanding of how people move through our city, where they live, where they work, and what creates traffic throughout the day.
I believe transportation decisions should be guided by research and analysis, not assumptions. By working with employers, schools, neighborhoods, and regional partners, we can better understand traffic patterns and develop practical solutions that improve safety, traffic flow, and quality of life.
Whether the answer involves better road design, technology, bicycles, golf carts, pedestrian improvements, or other transportation options, every decision should be based on facts and measurable results.
Will this decision make it easier and safer for people to travel around Boca Raton?
Open & Honest Government
Many Boca Raton residents have lost confidence in their local government. Trust can only be rebuilt when decisions are openly discussed, alternatives are fairly considered, and the public understands not only what was decided, but why.
Having served in elected office, I know public confidence is earned through openness, accountability, and thoughtful decision-making. Residents deserve to know not only what decisions are made, but why they were made and what alternatives were considered.
City Council should expect staff, consultants, and advisory boards to present facts, options, costs, and tradeoffs so elected officials can make informed decisions on behalf of the community. Tough questions, respectful debate, and differing viewpoints should be welcomed because they lead to better decisions and greater public confidence.
When government demonstrates that every reasonable option has been examined and explains its decisions honestly, trust begins to return.

Parks, Environment & Quality of Life
Boca Raton’s quality of life did not happen by accident. It reflects generations of residents and civic leaders who believed our parks, beaches, neighborhoods, trees, and public spaces were worth protecting for those who would follow.
Those choices helped shape the Boca Raton we enjoy today.
As our city continues to grow, our responsibility is not to preserve Boca in time, but to preserve what makes Boca special. That means continuing to invest in both passive parks where people can relax and enjoy nature, and active parks where children, families, and adults can play, compete, and build healthy lives. It means caring for our beaches, protecting and expanding our urban canopy, and maintaining the public spaces that bring our community together.
Every generation should leave Boca Raton even better than it found it.
